Perfect Bound Booklets

Multiple page booklets should be set up in a page layout program such as QuarkXpress or PageMaker. Each page of the booklet should be set up as a separate page in the file. The page size you select should be the folded size of your book.

Create the pages in reader spreads so the order is sequential. Do not place single pages next to each other in spreads. If a graphic is going to run across a spread, you will need to place it twice. The following instructions explain how to do this.

Placing graphics across spreads
Drag the two page icons next to each other so they are in a spread temporarily. Place the graphic across the spread. Then copy and paste it on top of itself so the coordinates match exactly. Pull in the picture windows so the graphic is cropped in half on each page. Then, move the pages back to their original positions so they are no longer in a spread.

If you have an odd number of pages, add blank pages so your total page count is a multiple of 2. Even page numbers go on the left. If the cover is printing on a different stock from the body, you can set up a separate four page document for the covers.

Note: Booklets that will be saddle stitched have different setup specifications. Please see our instructions or call your sales representative with any questions.

Perfect bound books should be set up in single pages with facing pages turned off. This example shows the beginning of the layout for a perfect bound booklet.
