Preparing files for FTP transfer
Files should be encoded, especially EPS files and fonts. You will need to use a compression program such as StuffIt Deluxe or WinZIP. Set your preferences in your compression program to encode when files are stuffed. Compression and encoding are two different functions.
A common encoding format is BinHex (.hqx). We recommend StuffIt Deluxe or the shareware version DropStuff to stuff and encode your files. Compressing your files will also speed up transfer time as a result of smaller file sizes.
Click on the DropStuff link to download the Aladdin Systems shareware application if needed. There are versions for both the Macintosh and Windows platforms.

Sending files with Fetch (FTP software)
Other FTP programs besides Fetch can also be used. If you have never used American's FTP site, and would like a password set up (optional), please contact Ajay Lamb, our Director of Technology.
Launch Fetch (or equivalent FTP client software) and choose New Connection from the menu. The following dialog box appears.
- USE apcguest for User ID and contact your Account Manager or Project Manager at American Printing for the password.
- Once a connection is established, click on the Uploads Directory.
- Drag your stuffed file into the Fetch window. Uploading will now begin.

Notify American Printing
Please contact your Account Manager or Project Manager when your transfer is complete. You may need to fax final lasers of your document.
